In a perfect world, I’m sure we’d all wish that double chin were considered as fab as our abs! Unfortunately, that extra layer of sagging skin under the chin is a big no-no for us in reality! It’s just an unnecessary addition of problems given to us by nature. What’s worse is that it affects our mental psyche and overall health and causes embarrassment and insecurity among us. It can be staggering to see how a little fat can make a person conscious if someone publicly points out the condition. People really need to stop pointing out flaws, don’t they? Ugh.

On a serious note, a double chin is a common condition that most of us face and is generally associated with weight gain. While this holds true, genetics and age-related collagen loss also play a crucial role in perpetuating turtle necks if not supported with a healthy diet and exercise routine. It is equally important to consider that chin fat reduction through exercise may be significant in mild cases, but severe chin fat needs permanent results through surgical & non-surgical double chin removal. So visit your doctor for an in-depth analysis.

I am here today to help you do away with that unwanted chin fat and look & feel good! In this article, I will talk about using some basic at-home exercises coupled with a few non-surgical & surgical treatments for double chin reduction:

1. Neck Exercise:

Though this does not give immediate results, daily practice of neck exercises has been effective in double chin removal. I personally perform neck exercises as a part of my warmup in my daily workout routine. Move your head up and down and hold for 10 seconds. Repeat the same sideways and do this exercise at least five times daily to get the desired outcome in due time.

2. Tongue stretch:

Sounds weird, but it is beneficial in mild cases of the double chin. Just roll your tongue and stretch as much as you can. Hold this position for 20-30 seconds and repeat a couple of times in a day. Again, this does not give immediate recovery; however, one must note that any form of exercise needs to be performed as a daily ritual to benefit from it.

3. Yoga:

Yoga is a form of exercise known to heal our mind, body, and soul. This ancient practice can also help you in double chin reduction through facial yoga. Perform exercises such as the giraffe technique, fish expression, and chub blaster that can beat that nasty fat and give you long-term results.

4. Weight and Diet:

When you work out and eat well, you will lose fat from your body. This will also keep your double chin in control. Try to include green leafy vegetables, salads, and avoid processed foods in your diet. Again go easy on those carbs to maintain a healthy weight & get rid of chin fat.

5. Fillers:

If you don’t have a severe case and want quick results, then jawline fillers are the optimal solution for double chin reduction. They are non-invasive and non-surgical and can enhance the face structure and balance the lower jawline, giving it a chiseled appearance.

6. Coolsculpting:

It is the safest and clinically-proven way to get rid of chin fat, and the excellent part is there is no use of needles and anesthesias. As the name suggests, cool sculpting uses a technique of freezing and killing the fat cells. This primarily works on stubborn chin fat, which doesn’t burn in spite of following a rigorous workout regimen. Within 30 minutes you can have a contoured neckline in the most painless way possible. Just make sure you are healthy and fit with no medical condition.

7. Thread Lift:

This is a minimally invasive procedure used for double chin removal that your doctor might suggest if you want quick results. It tightens the skin around your neck by pulling it up using a thread. They are low-risk procedures that have minimal recovery time and take about 45 minutes to be done.

8. Liposuction:

Although sounds overwhelming, liposuction works wonders for under chin fat removal and gives you that perfect neck contour. In liposuction your doctor will remove excess fat using a small incision, and usually, local anesthesia makes the area numb, so you don’t feel any pain. Post this procedure, maintaining weight and diet is vital to get a permanent closure with a double chin. The procedure takes about 35-40 minutes and should be performed by a trained doctor.

To conclude, I always advise my patients to follow a healthy balanced diet to be in the best of health. First, give exercise a chance and if it is not working for you, connect with your doctor to discuss the treatments mentioned above.
